Privacy Policy
New Life Foundation (NLF) is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of everyone who visits this website or contacts us — especially the parents, students and families we serve.
Last updated: [Date to be confirmed]. This policy applies to the New Life Foundation website and the enquiries made through it.
01Introduction
New Life Foundation (“NLF”, “we”, “us”) is an educational foundation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, dedicated to empowering refugee and displaced children through quality education, skills development and personal growth.
We understand that the families we serve may be in vulnerable circumstances, and we treat privacy with corresponding care. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you use this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. It is written with reference to Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (“PDPA”) and its applicable amendments.
02Information We Collect
This website is intentionally simple. It does not have accounts, logins, online forms that submit to a server. Information may reach us in the following ways:
- Enquiry information you choose to send — when you use the contact or admissions enquiry features, the website helps you compose a message containing your name, your preferred contact method, the nature of your enquiry and your message. This message is only sent if you choose to send it through WhatsApp.
- WhatsApp communications — if you message us on WhatsApp, we receive whatever you send, along with the phone number and profile information WhatsApp makes visible to us.
- Technical information — like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically process standard technical data (such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited) in server logs to operate and secure the website.
Information collected separately through school admissions or enrolment processes (for example, documents provided in person or through a secure process arranged with our team) is handled under those processes and is not collected through this website.
03How We Use Information
We use the information you share with us only to:
- Respond to your enquiry and communicate with you;
- Provide information about admissions, programmes and the foundation's activities;
- Follow up with families who have asked us to stay in touch;
- Meet legal or regulatory obligations where applicable.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build marketing profiles about visitors.
04WhatsApp Communications
The enquiry buttons and contact form on this website open WhatsApp with a pre-written message that you can review and edit before sending. Nothing is transmitted to NLF until you press send within WhatsApp itself.
WhatsApp is an external third-party service operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. When you use WhatsApp, your communications are also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control. We encourage you to review them.
05Children's Privacy
NLF serves children, and protecting their privacy is a priority. This website is designed for parents, guardians and adult supporters — not for use by children.
- Enquiries about a child should be made by a parent or legal guardian.
- We ask that you share only the minimum information about a child needed for us to respond to your enquiry.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this website.
06Sensitive and Refugee Information
Please do not submit passports, identity documents, UNHCR cards, refugee registration documents, or other sensitive personal documents through this website or the WhatsApp enquiry channel, unless our team has specifically requested them through an appropriate, secure process.
If sensitive documents are ever required — for example, as part of an admissions process — we will explain why they are needed and how they will be handled before asking you to provide them.
07Information Sharing
NLF does not sell personal information. We may share information only in limited circumstances:
- With authorised service providers who help us operate (for example, website hosting or communications providers), only as needed for them to provide their services;
- Where required by law, regulation or a valid legal process;
- With your consent, for a purpose we explain to you at the time.
08Data Security
We are committed to taking reasonable measures to protect the personal information shared with us from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. Because this website itself does not store enquiry data, the main records we hold are the conversations you choose to have with us on WhatsApp, which are accessible only to authorised members of our team.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we encourage you to share only what is necessary for your enquiry.
09Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was provided — for example, to continue an admissions conversation — or to meet legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise it.
10Cookies and Website Tracking
This website does not use advertising or tracking scripts, and it does not set analytics or marketing cookies. Our hosting provider may process standard technical information (such as server logs) to deliver and secure the website, as described in Section 2.
11Third-Party Services
This website relies on a small number of external services:
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms, Inc.) — used for enquiries, as described in Section 4;
- Website hosting and content delivery providers — which process technical data needed to serve the website;
- Map links — links to Google Maps open an external service subject to Google's own privacy policy.
These providers have their own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review.
12Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, including the PDPA, you may contact us to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Request deletion of your information, where we are not required to retain it;
- Withdraw consent to further communication.
To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will respond within a reasonable time.
13Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page, with the date of the latest update shown at the top. If we make significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to the attention of families we are in contact with.
